Small Cargo Bike Evolution?

I've been a fan of the UDK for years now. When I first started checking it out, it was cutting edge and it had an incredibly long range when compared with anything else on the market. Also, it was originally offered in a non-electric version. Back then it was the only bike in the Juiced line-up. The UDK was and is a very accessible, tough, and useful cargo bike. But things have changed a lot over at Juiced, and the UDK has not kept up with the times.

The Summer 2018 Juiced offerings
(Man, that's a bargain on the OceanCurrent! More on that later)

The other Juiced bikes show a lot of advancement - torque sensors and pedal assist and lights and other stuff that makes an e-bike a more practical and enjoyable ride. I've watched and waited for Juiced to update the UDK.

Last week, I fiinally saw the Juiced UDK I've been hoping for! (But it didn't come from Juiced!)

There it is, folks - the Pure Cycles Capacita! And (for those of you looking for a do-it-all small cargo bike) it is pretty darned sweet. And, if you're adventurous enough for the Indiegogo route, it's pretty darned inexpensive.

"If you are going to replace car trips with an electric bike..."

Yep, just $1000 (plus shipping) for the base model

Okay, I see 7 features not offered on the UDK. Cool!

Okay, forget all that reading business and watch the very enjoyable promo video:

Yep, I'm digging the Capacita with its Vanmoof vibe, its low price, and its plentiful features. And I keep learning that it's better to start with the stuff you want rather than upgrading stuff as you go. So, if you're in the market for a small cargo bike it's worth a look.

[While you're over at the Pure Cycles site, be sure to check their other nifty electric bike (the Volta) and the oh-so-sexy Urban Commuter.]

In case you are wondering about other small cargo competitors, here are a few more:

So, there you have it, folks - a few more cargo bikes for you to peruse and drool over.

May you find a cargo bike (or something!) that helps you replace some gas-burning car trips.

PS. For those of you wondering why I'm dragging my feet on the Cargo Bike Survey follow-up, the truth is that only one brave soul responded and I've been waiting for another brave soul to pipe in. (Hint, hint.)

Have a great day, friends!
