An E-Bike Bargain and a BEAU-tiful Boat - Both with Pedelec!

Let's start with the boat.

[Yes, I know - it does not have wheels, but this is some seriously retro-cool low-carbon transport. Also, it does have pedals AND you can get it as a pedelec! So it belongs on 2Wheels Maybe - right?]

Generally, 2Wheels is not a place for those of you looking to spend the big bucks on green transport, but we make exceptions when we run across something extraordinarily cool. You may remember the Budnitz titanium electric bike or the Morgan EV3.

Well, another one popped up this week - the Beau Laker Pedal Boat.

Lloyd Alter over at Treehugger posted an article about this really beautiful water strider for two. Our staff is absolutely smitten! While it would not make much sense in this dust bowl, it would sure be nice to cruise around in more waterful places.

At first glance, it looks like a 1950's Chris-Craft wooden boat, but when you take a closer look you see that it's smaller, more modern, AND it's pedal-powered! And they're even offering an electric version with pedelec. How cool is that?

So hop over to Lloyd's article and to the Beau Lake website to check out this simple and stunning eco-friendly machine!

Now to the e-bike bargain!

Juiced just dropped the price on the CrossCurrent Air to $999.

Holy moly! When it comes to affordable commuter e-bikes, the CrossCurrent Air has been at the top of my list of temptations. It's a speed machine that's pretty light and has some great components. It has two features that impress me a great deal at this price point - a 48 volt battery and a torque sensor, a feature normally reserved for high-end and mid-drive bikes. It also comes as both a pedelec and a throttle drive. And it's kinda sexy.

The e-Klunker PAS saga has had me jonesing for a torque sensor
like the one in the middle.

On top of those features, it has free shipping, arrives almost ready to ride, and they offer financing.

I can't imagine that this sale (or their stock) will last long at this price. I suspect they are closing this model out.

So, let's see...available for immediate shipping, arrives ready to ride, has a torque sensor and a big-ish battery, and it would cost me $22 per week for a year. Wowser!

I wonder if it's powerful enough to pull a pedal boat on a trailer...

While I wallow in temptation, I hope you are out enjoying the world while treading very lightly.

Have a great day, friends!
